The Driscoll Public Library issues family library cards. All spouse and dependent cards will be issued under the adult applying for the library card. Registration is updated annually. How do I get a library card for my child?
How do I update my library card information? Registration expires annually. Library cards must be renewed in person. A valid library card is one that has not expired and has a total of less than $5.00 in fines and fees pending. A non-valid library card cannot be used to borrow additional materials until it is renewed and fines/fees pending are less than $5.00. How do I replace my lost library card? If you lose your library card, report it immediately to the library. You are responsible for items borrowed on your card. Replacement charge is $1 per card. How many books and movies can I check out at a time? You may borrow five (5) books /audio books per person on the account not to exceed twenty (20) books per card. What are the loan periods, fines, etc.?
How do I place title(s) on hold? Title(s) may be placed on hold by requesting a reserve for the material(s) at the circulation desk or by logging into your library account at https://driscoll.biblionix.com. How do I renew my books and movies? Library materials may be renewed by phone, in person, online at https://driscoll.biblionix.com or by text to 830-326-9288. Materials can not be renewed if the material is on reserve for other patrons. Books and audiobooks are renewed for a two (2) week period. DVDs are renewed for a one (1) week period. The maximum loan period, including renewals, is six (6) weeks for books and (3) weeks for DVD’s. How do I request an item not listed in the card catalog? Items may be requested through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) from other libraries. Requirements include:
ILL requests may be made at the circulation desk or online at https://driscoll.biblionix.com. If available, requests are usually filled in two (2) to six (6) weeks. The loan period for an ILL is two weeks. Renewals are usually not available. Can I make copies/printouts? How much do they cost? Yes, Black and white copies/printouts are $0.20 per page. Color printouts are $1.00 per page. Patrons are responsible for all copies/printouts including pages printed in error. What do you need to use the computer in the library? Computers are available for public use. Users must have read and signed the library’s Internet Policy and be assigned a computer by the circulation desk staff on a first come-first serve basis. Computer usage is guaranteed for one hour. How do I recommend an item for purchase? Library patrons may request that books or other materials be added to the library collection. Requests are considered with the same criteria as all library materials as outlined in the Library’s Collection Development Policy. Can I donate a book in memory of a loved one? Donations to the Library are always welcome. You can memorialize a loved one with a monetary or book donation. Donations can also honor a special anniversary couple or birthday recipient. Ask for further details at the circulation desk. How do I become a friend of the Driscoll Public Library? For information on becoming a member of the Friends of the Driscoll Public Library, call 830-663-2993. The library offers volunteer opportunities throughout the year. What if the library does not have a book, audiobook, or movie? Materials are available for download from the lone Star Digital library through the library’s catalog page. Materials may be requested from other libraries through Interlibrary loan (Ill). Ill users must have a current library card for six (6) months and pay a $3.00 return postage fee.
